Class, Tues, 3/12

Revision One (R1)

Pomodoro

  • Work intensively for 25 minutes on the piece you’re writing. No distractions. Then take a 5-minute break. Do anything you want: go for a walk, chat with friend, eat a snack, check your phone (if you must) . . . This counts as one pomodoro.
  • Then go back to work for another 25 minutes, followed by another 5-minute break.
  • After four pomodoros, take a 15-minute break.
  • Continue until your project is done, your workday is over, or your attention and endurance is exhausted

This technique was first developed by Francisco Cirillo in the late 1980s. Here’s his website. https://francescocirillo.com/pages/pomodoro-technique

In class today, we will do a slightly abbreviated set of pomodoros: write for 20 minutes, break for 4, write for 20, break for 4, write for 20. Go!

To Do

  1. Thurs, 3/14: No class. Joe at CCCC.
  2. Mon, 3/18, 10:00 am: Post your R1 to your Group Folder on Google Drive. Sometime during the day, print out  and read each of the pieces posted by the members of your group.
  3. Tues, 3/19, class: Bring one print copy of each of the five pieces (including your own) posted to your Group Folder. (Feel free to print these double-sided and single-spaced,) I will explain our workshop procedures in class. However, in order for the workshop to succeed, it is crucial that you have read and feel familiar with each of the pieces written by the other members of your group.
