Open: Write a different sort of piece than you’ve attempted so far in this course. For instance, you might want to compose an idea-based piece, or a response to a text you’ve read or seen or heard, or a description of place that matters to you. The only requirement is that you write something new, and that feels different from your previous pieces.

  1. Tues, 4/23, class: Please bring 5 print copies of your R3 with you to class. (You can print them single-spaced and back-to-back. We will create groups in class to workshop these pieces.
  2. Thurs, 4/25, class: Read Berry (17–27), Kinkaid (257-64), and Nye (401–04). I have selected these more idea-driven examples of creative nonfiction.
  3. Mon, 4/29, 11:00 am: Post X5 to your individual folder on Google Drive.
